Patreon Revisited: Lots of New Stuff is Here!

I started a Patreon some time ago, but found myself struggling to come up with things to do with it.

(Note: A few of you actually become patrons despite the regular flow of content, and I can’t express how grateful I am!)

What I needed to do was follow a few other creators to understand the platform — and now I have. So, the plan for 2026 is to spend about 10 hours a week on Patreon videos, posts, and rewards.

I’ve already started on this, actually, so I don’t know if it’s really a 2026 plan. I’m eager to give you good reasons to visit and support my Patreon, so I didn’t feel like waiting.

CHANGES:

  • The tiers have been restructured. There is a now a $3 tier for anyone who wants to support my work without taking too much of a hit. This tier gets access to all posts and videos published to Patreon, as well as limited access to the Discord (which I’m also planning on working on more diligently). There is also a new $15 tier with considerable tangible rewards. The $5 tier hasn’t lost anything, but now has more rewards.
  • Discord will get more of my attention. I’ve added new channels where I will post crafting projects and shots of the rescue animals in my studio along with writing tips and such.
  •  I’ve set up merch, both fulfilled by Patreon and through my own hands. $5 tier patrons now get my favorite sticker, and $15 tier patrons get a unique tee shirt. They also get to choose their favorite HCU novel, and I’ll send them a signed copy (U.S. only for now)!
This is the best sticker I’ve designed so far, I think!
A popular tee-shirt design, fulfilled by Patreon!

CONTENT:

All of this is for naught if I don’t post more content — so that’s happening. I’ve already posted a couple of new videos, and I’ve got three more scheduled for this month as of today.

What kind of stuff?

  • Worldbuilding: I’ve done some videos where I draw concept art for the Hope Cyberpunk Universe while also explaining the lore. These videos are getting better the more I do them. 😅
  • Enclosure Tours: I build animal enclosures and terrariums, so Patreon will get some videos about the individual animals and how I built their homes. (There’s a studio tour video posting soon where you’ll see most of the enclosures that will be detailed.)
  • Crafting Projects: I’ll video some of my various builds (props, miniatures, dioramas, whatever I’m working on) and share walkthroughs/tips on making things. They’re not always cyberpunk things, but they often are.
  • General Tips/Bits Videos: I’m finally getting more comfortable with video, so I foresee a lot more shortform content where I just share tips or insights on writing, creating, or whatever I think I have tips or insights about.
  • Stories: I will continue posting chapters and short stories, most of which will only be available on Patreon. I have two stories in the HCU that are getting prepped for exclusive release on the platform.
  • More: I’m still gathering options and researching what else Patreon will let me do. I’d like to sell my books and merch at a deep discount directly through Patreon, but I haven’t figured out if that’s possible yet. I’m 99% sure I’m going to release all future novels to Patreon first, probably for free to the QUANTAMANCER tier. We’ll see if that’s viable.

Thanks for Supporting my Work!

What this all comes back to is my recent polymath realization. I got burned out on writing because I like to do other things as well. Creating has to be a multi-faceted pursuit for me, or I dry up like a jellyfish in the desert. Since I needed a way to create things besides books and still share (and let’s be honest, try to make a bit of money off it so I don’t starve) it seemed like Patreon was the way to go.

Your support (whether or not it’s through Patreon) is very appreciated and keeps me doing this, so I want to make sure I’m putting MAX EFFORT™ into Patreon rewards. Thanks for reading, following, engaging — and if you choose to do so, joining me on Patreon!

Check it out, see the new tiers and the free posts…and support me if you’d like!
