Creative Event is Also an Anti-AI Event? (It Did Make Me Laugh)

A friend just shared this poster with me:

anti-ai art poster

It looked like a cool event — somewhere that all of my zine making equipment would probably be appreciated — until I got to the second half of poster.

I can’t decide if this is anti-AI derangement, or just anti-AI virtue signaling. What do you think?

Either way, it’s so over the top and absurd. Was anyone really going to show up to an in-person crafting event and start cranking out stuff on Chat GPT? Very unlikely.

Then there’s the open hate… I thought hate was supposed to be bad? But I guess it’s okay when it’s peer-approved and follows the trends. Forget the fact that this literal hate speech is littered with trigger words about the environment and plagiarism…

Which is what really made me laugh. I promise I’m not being petty about a typo, but the context got me. It instantly reminded me of “The Postman” when General Bethlehem is handed a “Down with Tiranee” poster, turns, and says “You spelled ‘tyranny’ wrong.”

artists hate AI

Loved that movie.
